About Us "

The National Level Short Film Festival for Specially Abled People is a poignant and powerful celebration of resilience, diversity, and human connection. Organized by the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Specially Abled  (SSEPD) Department and managed by RR Events, this festival is more than just a showcase of talent—it is a heartfelt endeavor to bring forward the inspiring stories of specially abled individuals.

Through the lens of filmmaking, we aim to highlight stories filled with courage, hope, and an unyielding spirit, fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society. This festival serves as a platform for creative expression, raising awareness about disability issues while celebrating the extraordinary achievements of individuals who continue to inspire us all.

Rules and regulations

  • No work or artist will be discriminated against or favoured based on country of origin, language, age, race, education, gender, ideology or economic resources. All content, forms and techniques are welcome without censorship.
  • The decision of the selection committee is final and not open to correspondence. Finalists will be notified via mail or email.
  • The festival will make every effort to announce the selected films and winners on time but is not liable for any unforeseen delays.
  • By participating, entrants (and their parents or legal guardians if minors) agree to abide by the decisions of the festival and its judges, which are final.
  • The festival reserves the right to accept or reject any film that may offend the sentiments, feelings or sensibilities of any community, religion or sector or that may promote racism or ill will.
  • The festival has the right to screen films across India for awareness purposes on a non-commercial basis. Excerpts from any submitted film may be used for promotional/publicity purposes on television, the internet or related media during and after the festival.

IMPORTANT : To create a short film inspired by a successful individual with a differently abled person , you should use a Life Story Rights Authorization Letter. This document provides a legal release from liability for claims like defamation or invasion of privacy and ensures you have the subject’s consent to use their name, likeness, and biography.

Legal and other considerations

  • All submitted short films must be the original work of the entrants and must not infringe on any copyrights or third-party rights. Entrants must have obtained all necessary permissions for music, sound and images used in their films. A self-declaration regarding the originality of the content is required from each participant.
  • By entering the festival, entrants agree that the festival will not be held liable for any copyright infringements committed by them or their short films.
  • The festival reserves the right not to screen any film(s) for any reason it deems valid. Entrants may be prosecuted according to the Indian Criminal Procedure Code and the Indian Media Law for any offenses or infringements. Racial, religious and regional discrimination shall not be portrayed in any part of the submitted films.
  • All legal matters, if any, shall be addressed in the judicial courts in Cuttack, Odisha.
  • Members of the organizing and selection committees and juries are not permitted to participate as contestants in the festival.
  • No filmmaker, institution or organization is allowed to use the name Equally Abled Accessible Short Film Festival, its logo or its official selection laurel for any commercial, non-commercial, cultural or personal use without the permission of the organizing committee. Legal action will be taken against any person or organization found violating this rule, with legal issues addressed in the judicial courts in Cuttack, Odisha.
